Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is a multifaceted institution offering education and carrying out research in the technical sciences at an internationally recognised level. Because of our mission “impact for a better society” Open Science and FAIR Data are our key values. TU Delft has pioneered the embedding of data stewards at an institutional level: it has been the first institution internationally to appoint full-time disciplinary data stewards to advance FAIR practices in research across the campus. In 2020 TU Delft has launched the dedicated Open Science Programme aiming to implement Open Science practices in research and education. TU Delft is also home of the Delft Open Science Community, which boasts more than 100 active members. Through the Open Science Community Delft, TU Delft is also an active member of the International Network of Open Science Communities (INOSC). 

About TU Delft and the RDA

TU Delft has been actively participating in multiple interest and working groups of RDA for years. TU Delft colleagues have been co-chairing several groups and helped drive the development of various deliverables of the RDA. We see the involvement in RDA activities and co-creation with the international community as essential if we care about collaboration and re-use instead of reinventing the wheel. We believe that the global cooperation within the RDA is paramount to the implementation of FAIR data internationally.

Being part of the RDA and actively participating in the working/interest groups allows TU Delft to stay close to the state of the art in research data management. It helps maintain the professionalism and a high level of expertise of TU Delft research data services, not only at the international RDM community level but also, more importantly, at our local level – when supporting our own researchers.

A Word from Marta Teperek

At TU Delft we see the RDA at the core of our day to day business. We can’t effectively support our researchers without the breadth of knowledge and expertise available through the RDA. We also need to effectively collaborate with one another to solve the problems which cross institutional borders, such as metadata and data interoperability. Numerous colleagues from TU Delft have actively contributed to working and interest groups of the RDA, often in leadership roles. Simply because we can’t do without collaboration. Collectively we can achieve so much more!

At TU Delft we see the RDA as our extended community. We are proud to be part of this community and are really happy to be formally joining the RDA as an Organisational Member!
