About the National Library of Ireland (NLI)

The National Library of Ireland (NLI) is the library of record for Ireland established in 1877. The NLI collects and makes available the recorded memory of Ireland, caring for more than 10 million items, including books, newspapers, manuscripts, prints, drawings, ephemera, photographs and digital media. The NLI is open to all and free of charge to consult the national collections. Increasingly the national record includes digital and born-digital materials such as websites, which the NLI collects and preserves for Ireland. The National Library of Ireland & RDA

The National Library of Ireland is the Irish National RDA Node, which means that the National Library of Ireland is responsible for the support and promotion of RDA activities in Ireland. Our programme of activities includes policy engagement, national workshops on aspects of research data management and a series of talks and resources for the data community including researchers and practitioners, with a particular focus on the library and archive community. The Director of the National Library of Ireland, Dr Sandra Collins, has been actively involved since the foundation of RDA and is a member of the RDA Council.
